About Gaga Laboratorio
Gagà Laboratorio is a contemporary luxury watch brand with bold Italian design and Swiss watchmaking know-how. Combining the expertise of the team behind Gagà Milano and the Swiss Manufacture Gagà SA, Ruben Tomella along with creative direction from Mo Coppoletta, founded Gagà Laboratorio. The brand sets out to capture the pure essence of beauty through thoughtfully crafted timepieces. Its debut Labormatic collection uniquely melds artistic inspiration—drawing on mid-century Italian creativity and modern minimalism—with the heritage of Swiss watchmaking. By marrying expressive aesthetics with technical excellence, Gagà Laboratorio has quickly carved a distinct place in the world of independent horology for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Gaga Laboratorio History
Gagà Laboratorio’s history begins with a vision to create a new kind of luxury watch that stands at the intersection of Italian artistic creativity and Swiss technical excellence. The brand was conceived by entrepreneur Ruben Tomella—already known for founding Gagà Milano in the early 2000s—who in 2020 decided to leverage the Swiss know-how of Manufacture Gagà SA, the company that had been crafting high-end movements for Gagà Milano since 2012, to launch a fresh horological chapter focused on refined design and craftsmanship.
Tomella teamed up with Mo Coppoletta, an acclaimed creative, tattoo artist, and designer who became the Art Director of Gagà Laboratorio, to shape not just the watches themselves but the brand’s entire aesthetic language. Coppoletta’s influence helped the brand articulate a bold stylistic identity that draws inspiration from culturally significant design movements—ranging from the minimalist precision of German Bauhaus to the vibrant optimism of post-war Italian design.
In 2024, Gagà Laboratorio introduced its inaugural collection, the Labormatic, which featured standout models like the Cinquanta and Bauhaus, distinguished by unique case architecture, digital-analog displays, and Swiss automatic movements. Since its debut, the Labormatic line has expanded with new variants such as the Azzurro and Champagne editions, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to blending storytelling, cultural resonance, and high-end mechanical watchmaking.
Gaga Laboratorio Collections
Gaga Laboratorio’s current catalogue consists of one collection: The Labormatic. Within The Labormatic collection, there are five iterations consisting of different color schemes. Each model uses the same case design, dial layout, and movement inside. The five models currently available consist of the Cinquanta (light green), Champagne (light gold with two-tone case), Azzurro (light blue and white with red numerals), Bauhaus (black and grey), and Luce (blue and black, a limited edition collaboration with Revolution magazine). The defining characteristics of the Labormatic collection are the crown located at 12 o’clock, architectural case design, and digital hour display with a minute hand and central seconds disc.
Each model features a 42mm stainless steel case constructed of seven parts measuring 13.3mm thick, water resistant to 50 meters, and a crown located at 12 o’clock. Inside is the La Joux-Perret LJP G-100 automatic caliber with a 68-hour power reserve and a customized Gaga Laboratorio rotor visible through the sapphire case back. The dial is protected by a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Saffiano leather straps are color matched to each model and are hand crafted in Italy.
