The Mühle name within Germany has been in business since 1869, with Robert Mühle starting his own business manufacturing precision measuring devices. These tools were used by watch companies within Glashütte, and his work was so highly regarded that Robert Mühle was awarded The Gold Medal of the City of Dresden in 1896. In 1990, with the reunification of Germany, Hans took the role of managing director of GUB, and continued to expand into various timekeeping devices, including nautical clocks used for navigation. In 1996, Mühle Glashütte produced their first wrist watch, forming the beginnings of the brand we know today.

Now in its sixth generation of family owned operation, Mühle Glashütte continues to be an independent watch brand, manufacturing watches, including developing their own in-house movement.
