Longines is a Swiss watch brand with nearly 200 years of history of creating beautiful, accurate, and durable timepieces. Many models have become classics, including the watches in the aptly named Longines Classic Collection.

About Longines Classic Watches

Longines launched the Classic Collection in 1957. Since then, the collection has spawned many elegant models. These watches are stunning dress timepieces with simple, elegant, and easy-to-read dials. The variety of classy dial colors, strap and bracelet options, and materials offers a range of choices to suit the most discerning watch collector. A Longines Classic watch on your wrist shows that you are a person of style and distinction.

The price range of the watches in the Classic collection is much more affordable than most other luxury watches. You get quality, style, and craftsmanship at a fraction of the price you might pay for other brands.

Longines Classic History

When the first Longines Classic watch made its appearance in 1957, it got the attention of the world of horology with its simple, clean lines and classic white dial. Gold-colored hands and indices contrasted nicely with the dial and stainless steel case. A basic three-hand dress watch with a leather strap, this watch was a hit with men who dressed well and wanted a timepiece to compliment their attire.

As Longines moved into the 1960s, the Classic collection offered models with other dial colors as well as stainless steel and two-tone bracelets. Complications such as dates and moon phases were added. Updated movements lengthened power reserves and improved accuracy.

Longines' long and distinguished history as a major player in watchmaking makes the Classic Collection desirable among watch enthusiasts worldwide.

How Much Do Longines Classic Watches Cost?

What’s Unique About Longines Classic Watches?

The models of the Longines Classic Collection offer a variety of options that let the buyer own a timepiece that is unique to their personal tastes.

There are five-link and jubilee-style bracelets in stainless steel or two-tone, stainless gold or red PVD coated. Also available is a black leather, alligator-embossed strap. Hand options include stainless steel and gilt. The Flagship 40mm Gilt stands out with its matching gilt dial and hands.

Several models have diamond indices that pop. The La Grande Classique de Longines makes a bold and unique statement with its 24 mm case and end links. Of course, all models in the collection show off the winged hourglass, the oldest unchanged active registered trademark. It tells everyone around you that you are a person of good taste with a fine sense of style.

Longines Classic Movements

All of the watches in the Longines Classic collection are powered by Longine's reliable, accurate movements. The La Grande Classique de Longines features a quartz movement.

The other watches in the collection have automatic movements. They run on either the caliber L592 at 28,000 bph with a 45-hour power reserve or the L888. The latter runs at 25,200 bph and has a whopping 72-hour power reserve.

Whichever model you choose, you will have a movement you can depend on.

Longines Classic Watch Colors

As you would expect in the Classic collection, most of the dials are either white or black, two elegant colors that go with any attire. They are contrasted nicely by their handsets and dials.

For those who like a bit of bling on their wrist, the gilt dials have a stunning gold color that stands out without being ostentatious.

Longines Classic Watch Materials

Longines Classic watches are made with high-quality materials. The cases, hands, and bracelets are made of 316L stainless steel, which has brushed and polished surfaces that add depth and interest.

Some of the models use red or gold PVD coating on the two-tone bracelets and bezels. The straps are of quality calfskin leather.

The models with diamond indices use Top Wesselton VS-SI diamonds, and the crystals and exhibition case backs are scratch-resistant sapphire. The crystals have several layers of anti-reflective coating on the inside.

Longines Classic Sizes

The Longines Classic watches come in several case sizes to suit males and females and large and small wrists.

The ladies' watches are available in 26mm with a 7.9mm thickness and 30mm with an 8.1mm thickness.

You can get a men’s timepiece with a 38.5mm case and an 8.2mm thickness or a larger 40mm case with an 8.7mm thickness.

These sizes offer a classic dress watch look on a variety of wrist sizes and are slim enough to easily slide under the cuff of a shirt.
