Jacob & Co. History

After completing a jewelry design course, Jacob Arabo set up shop in the diamond district in New York City. Initially starting in a small booth in 1981, he started Diamond Quasar in 1986, selling custom designs under the name Jacob & Co. His work became popular within New York City, and the brand grew from there, gaining the attention of many celebrities. This brought his work to the public eye, allowing the business to grow even more. Arabo expanded into luxury watches starting in 2002, starting with the iconic 5-time zone watch, inspired by the fast paced jet-set lifestyle of many of his clients. From there, Jacob & Co watches expanded to include complicated tourbillon and astronomical complications, along with partnerships with popular media franchises, automotive companies, and fashion brands. Jacob & Co. was also the first luxury watch brand to offer an NFT version of one of their timepieces, and one of the first watch brands to accept cryptocurrencies. Jacob & Co. Astronomia Regulator

Regulator displays were originally used for Marine Chronometers, allowing for clear reading of the hours and minutes, to assist in navigation and to set other timekeeping devices. The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Regulator takes this complicated display to another level, by allowing the display to rotate once per minute. With a tourbillon, hours, and minutes display all rotating, the sapphire crystals on the front, back, and sides of the case allow for a clear view of this watchmaking marvel.

Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron

Taking inspiration from the hyper luxurious supercar, Jacob & Co. designed a watch that incorporated elements from the Bugatti Chiron, including an animated model of the Bugatti’s W12 engine within the watch. Also featuring a flying tourbillon and power reserve indicator, sapphire panels around the watch provide an uninhibited view of the mechanics of the movement.

Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon

Made for true high rollers, the Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon features a functioning roulette game on the dial, which is activated via the pusher on the left side of the case. The design features a crownless system, with the watch setting and winding completed via the caseback. While the case is flipped over, the owner gets a view of the flying tourbillon.

Jacob & Co. Godfather Tourbillon

Drawing on a connection stemming from the first film Jacob Arabo saw in theatres upon arriving in the United States, the Jacob & Co. Godfather tourbillon is a partnership between the brand and Paramount pictures, making this an officially licensed collaboration. The 49mm case houses a miniature version of Don Corleone, a piano and violin shaped winding stem to reference the Nino Rota soundtrack, and the iconic Godfather puppet strings from the film poster. In addition to displaying the time and featuring a triple-axis flying tourbillon, the watch includes a miniature music box, which plays 30 seconds of the main theme. After winding the mechanism for the music box, the theme plays after pressing the pusher located at 10 o’clock. The time setting is done via the case back. The Jacob & Co. The Caviar Tourbillon features an entirely gem set case, dial, and crown, with a total number of 424 gems. With design elements taken from a variety of iconic pieces of Batman’s gear, the movement inside the Jacob & Co. Gotham City features two triple axis flying tourbillons. To tie it all together, the watch comes with a black yellow strap, matching the iconic Batman logo.

The Palatial Classic collection serves as Jacob & Co.’s ode to traditional watches. Jacob & Co. The Mystery Tourbillon

The Mystery Tourbillon is both a horological and gem set masterpiece. In the center are two triple axis flying tourbillons mounted back to back, surrounded by a completely gem set dial. As the tourbillons rotate, the wearer is able to see each one, along with a clear view from the case back. The time is told via two gem set rotating disks, with the outermost displaying the minutes, and the innermost displaying the hours, both indicated by a contrasting gem. Drawing inspiration from the prevalence of flower motifs in high jewelry, Jacob & Co. designed the Fleurs De Jardin as a high horology and high jewelry masterpiece that brings a rotating gem set garden to the wrist. With a double axis flying tourbillon with the cage made in the shape of a butterfly, the entire display completes a rotation of the dial every ten minutes. Jacob & Co. movements are developed in-house, with most of their movements developed for each timepiece. Jacob & Co. in Switzerland has partnered with Les Atelier 7H38 to develop the unique movements required to achieve the creative vision of each timepiece.
