List of Watches / Accessories
Most well known for their iconic bright orange dials and unique cushion case design, Doxa, in recent years, has expanded its product line to include a wide array of dial choices, case materials, and now case sizes with the Doxa Sub 200T. Reducing the case size while keeping the iconic Doxa dive watch design will appease many collectors looking to enjoy the fun while keeping their wristwear svelte and compact.
About Doxa Sub 200T Watches
While Doxa has many avid fans, their bright orange dials and large case diameters tended to scare away many customers. In recent years, Doxa has added more color options, ranging from more subtle and conventional to vibrant and fun, attracting buyers not fond of the original bright orange dials.
The large case diameter was still a problem for some until recently with the release of the Doxa Sub 200T. Now, watch enthusiasts are able to have the complete look of the iconic Doxa Sub 300T in a smaller, more svelte form factor that is favorable to a wider range of wrist sizes.
Doxa Sub 200T History
Founded in 1889, Doxa started working on their first dive watch in the late 1960’s. In 1968, the Doxa Sub 300T was released, which featured the now famous orange dial and iconic Doxa dive timing bezel. The bezel features the air timing table for no compression dives, allowing divers to more accurately time their ascension to the surface.
Doxa also chose to use the now distinctive shade of bright orange, as it was deemed to be the most legible under deeper depths where there is significantly less light. The Quartz Crisis put Doxa in the same position as many other brands, forcing the brand and the 300T to fade away for several years. Regardless, the 300T gained an ardent fan base, and the brand was resurrected in 1997 and started releasing watches again in 2002.
Now that the brand is more stable, they continue to offer new models, including references to models from the back catalog, along with updated versions of icons in different materials and modernized designs. This includes the new Doxa Sub 200T, which is a smaller version of their classic 300T. Although there is a decrease in water resistance from 1,200 meters to 200 meters, the 200T keeps the iconic timing bezel and is offered in a wider range of colors.
How Much Do Doxa Sub 200T Watches Cost?
With each model within the Doxa Sub 200T range being largely the same except for dial color, the price range is quite narrow, starting at $1550 for the watch on a rubber strap to $1590 for the watch on a beads of rice bracelet. The Sharkhunter, Professional, Caribbean, Divingstar, and Aquamarine are available in both Iconic (flat color) and Sunray (a reflective textured dial finish).
The models on the bracelet include a fixed dive extension in the clasp, along with three positions of micro-adjustment via a spring bar and tool. The rubber strap models include a deployant buckle with a ratcheting dive extension.
The good thing about this is that making a decision on which model you may choose is based on personal preference and less on the associated cost. Below is a breakdown of various options and configurations.

What’s Unique About Doxa Sub 200T Watches?
Similar to the Doxa 300T, the Sub 200T is distinctly Doxa, with a distinct dive time bezel, bright colors, and unique case shape. What is distinctly unique about the Sub 200T is the reduced case size, measuring 39mm wide compared to the original 42.5mm.
The Sub 200T is also a compact lug-to-lug, measuring 41.5mm long and a svelte 10.7mm thick. The reduced size comes with a reduced water resistance rating, dropping to 200 meters from 1,200 meters for the 300T, but 200 meters is still more than enough for professional diving, let alone recreational aquatic use.
Doxa Sub 200T Movements
Inside all Doxa Sub 200T watches are the Sellita SW200-1, an automatic winding 3-hand mechanical movement with a date, hacking, and hand-winding functions. The movement has a 38-hour power reserve and beats at 28,800 bph. The movement includes some decorations done by Doxa.
Doxa Sub 200T Watch Colors
While the color that made Doxa famous is the bright orange seen on the Professional models, the Sharkhunter and Searambler (black and silver, respectively) are part of the original Doxa dive watch colors.
Brighter color options are a modern addition, but they are welcomed by many as they introduce more lighthearted options, especially compared to the vast number of dive watches with black dials. The other dial colors available for the Doxa Sub 200T include Sea Emerald (green), Caribbean (dark blue), Divingstar (yellow), Aquamarine (turquoise), and Whitepearl (white).
Doxa Sub 200T Watch Materials
The Doxa Sub 200T stays with traditional materials for a dive watch, with the case, case back, bezel, and beads of rice bracelet being made of stainless steel. Should you opt for one of the strap options, the straps are made of rubber and come with stainless steel deployant clasps. The crystal covering the dial is made of sapphire, offering the scratch-resistant durability expected from a modern dive watch.
