List of Watches / Accessories

For some, enough is never enough. 300 meters of water resistance and a helium release valve will be more than most people will ever use, even for many divers. Still, that does not stop some people from searching for the most durable version of something available, as having an overbuilt item brings a sense of satisfaction unique to knowing an item can survive anything you can subject it to. With a history of building charismatic and durable dive watches, the Doxa Sub 1500T is the brand's most overbuilt dive watch.

About Doxa Sub 1500T Watches

Featuring 1500 meters of water resistance and a helium release valve, the Sub 1500T is built to withstand the most rigorous diving conditions one could face. Even for those with less aquatic-based professions, the Doxa Sub 1500 T's overbuilt nature will ensure that it can withstand just about anything life can throw at it. With similar aesthetics to the Doxa Sub 300, the Doxa Sub 1500T is also a good option for those looking for a larger version of Doxa's iconic dive watch design.

Doxa Sub 1500T History

Founded in 1889, Doxa started working on their first dive watch in the late 1960's. In 1968, the Doxa Sub 300T was released, which featured the now famous orange dial and iconic Doxa dive timing bezel. The bezel features the air timing table for no compression dives, allowing divers to more accurately time their ascension to the surface. Doxa also chose to use the now distinctive shade of bright orange, as it was deemed to be the most legible under deeper depths where there is significantly less light. The Quartz Crisis put Doxa in the same position as many other brands, forcing the brand and the 300T to fade away for several years. Regardless, the 300T gained an ardent fan base, and the brand was resurrected in 1997 and started releasing watches again in 2002. The modern Doxa Sub 1500T was released in 2020. Available in seven different colors, the model features a larger cushion case design that maintains the Doxa DNA but is offered in an overbuilt diver package.

How Much Do Doxa Sub 1500T Watches Cost?

With each model within the Doxa Sub 1500T range being largely the same except for dial color, the price range is quite narrow, starting at $2,450 for the watch on a rubber strap to $2,490 for the watch on a steel five-link bracelet.

The dial options available include Shakrhunter (black), Professional (orange), Caribbean (blue), Divingstar (yellow), Searambler (silver), Whitepearl (white) and Aquamarine (turquoise).

The models on the bracelet include a ratcheting dive extension in the clasp. The rubber strap models include a deployant buckle with a ratcheting dive extension. The good thing about these options and the small price difference is that deciding which model to choose is based on personal preference and less on the associated cost. Below is a breakdown of various options and configurations.

What's Unique About Doxa Sub 1500T Watches?

The Doxa Sub 1500T has many traits that are unique to Doxa watches. In addition to the modern color additions, the Doxa signature orange dial is available. The bezel features markings used to calculate ascension times for non-compression dives, assisting divers to make certain they do not get the bends while returning to the surface (a phenomenon that occurs when divers return from the great depths of the ocean to the surface too quickly).

The 1500T is the largest, most overbuilt dive watch in the Doxa catalog. Rated to 1500 meters of water resistance, the larger steel case measures 45mm in diameter, 47mm lug-to-lug, and features a helium escape valve.

Doxa Sub 1500T Movements

Inside the Doxa Sub 1500T is the automatic winding ETA 2892-2, decorated by Doxa. The movement operates at 28,800 bph, with 21 jewels, and features a date complication.

Doxa Sub 1500T Watch Colors

The Doxa Sub 1500T collection utilizes the Professional (orange), Searambler (silver), Sharkhunter (black), Caribbean (navy blue), Divingstar (yellow), Whitepearl (white) and Aquamarine (turquoise blue) dial variations.

The Professional, Searambler, Sharkhunter, and Caribbean dials feature black and orange bezel markings, while the Divingstar, Aquamarine, and Whitepearl feature bezel markings to match the dial.

Doxa Sub 1500T Watch Materials

The Doxa Sub 1500T stays with traditional materials for a dive watch, with the case, case back, bezel, and five-link bracelet being made of stainless steel. Should you opt for one of the strap options, the straps are made of rubber and come with stainless steel deployant clasps. The crystal covering the dial is made of sapphire, offering the scratch-resistant durability expected from a modern dive watch.
