Why are Chronoswiss Stainless Steel Watches so Popular?

When it comes to more complicated watchmaking, companies traditionally saved their more complicated calibers for precious metal cases, such as gold and platinum. If you wanted a perpetual calendar chronograph from one of the more famous Swiss watchmakers, it most likely had to be done in a precious metal case. Skeletonized watches and complicated displays are included in this.

When a brand does offer a higher level of watchmaking in a stainless steel case, collectors often get excited, as the focus of the watch is on the watchmaking and not the case material. This not only applied to the philosophical side of watch collecting, but also the practical, as the cost of the watch is not artificially inflated by the materials used.

Chronoswiss, from its inception, offered their regulator and skeletonized watches in both precious metals and stainless steel, such as their Opus chronographs. Being able to add a fully skeletonized chronograph that is well finished to your collection without the precious metal price tag made many collectors very excited and won Chronoswiss many fans.

Today, Chronoswiss has expanded upon their original, more classically designed styles and now produces watches with bright dials, partially skeletonized displays, and a myriad of case finishes and coatings that add color to the case, allowing the brand to reach a wider range of collectors looking for something more unique to add to their collection.

Most Iconic Chronoswiss Stainless Steel Watches

Despite a relatively brief history within the greater scope of Swiss watchmaking, Chronoswiss has some models that have gained widespread awareness amongst collectors. Some of these are models that have been developed throughout the brand's history, and some are recent additions that managed to catch the attention of watch enthusiasts despite their recent release and often limited production.

Chronoswiss Delphis Venture (ref. CH-1423.1-BKBL)

A coin edge bezel, guilloche dial, and complicated display signal a design origin based in more traditional watchmaking, but the larger 42mm case and rubber strap also signal a brand and model suited to modern tastes. Closer inspection reveals a variety of finishes on the multi-layer dial, all of which add a great deal of depth to the appearance.

The hours are read via the digital display at 12 o'clock, with the minutes read via the retrograde display that spans the upper portion of the dial. Inside the 100-meter water resistant steel case is the caliber C.6004, a movement manufactured by Chronoswiss. This automatic caliber has a 55-hour power reserve, and this reference is part of a limited edition of 50 pieces. The Chronoswiss Delphis Venture retails for $17,400 USD.

Chronoswiss Open Gear Flying Tourbillon Psycho (ref. CH-3128-COL)

For those looking for a truly eye-catching addition to their collection, there is the Chronoswiss Open Gear Flying Tourbillon Psycho. If featuring a regulator display and tourbillon complication was not enough, Chronoswiss developed a method to finish the 44mm stainless steel case in bright purple.

The dial had orange, blue, green, and purple elements, making for a very striking timepiece. The C.303 caliber is manufactured by Chronoswiss and has a power reserve of 60 hours. The case is rated to 100 meters of water resistance, and this reference is a limited edition of 15 pieces. The Chronoswiss Open Gear Flying Tourbillon Psycho retails for $48,600 USD.

Chronoswiss Delphis Paraiba (ref. CH-1423.1-BKTU)

Another iteration from the Chronoswiss Delphis collection, this version features a sunray guilloche dial that ranges from a light green to a turquoise blue in color. This model maintains the same rubber strap, 42mm stainless steel case rated to 100 meters of water resistance, and the caliber C. 6004 with its 55-hour power reserve. The Delphis Paraiba is also a limited edition of 50 pieces. The Chronoswiss Delphis Paraiba retails for $17,400 USD.

Chronoswiss Space Timer Supernova Limited Edition (ref. CH-9343M.2-SIBK)

The Chronoswiss Space Timer is the brand's interpretation of the moonphase complicated. Utilizing a high-end composite to create the bridges that float above the dial, this creates space for the three dimensional titanium moonphase display. Beneath the red composite bridges are hand guilloche movement plates, with contrasting silver and black toned sections.

All of these elements create a watch with a great deal of depth and texture rarely seen on the dial side of mechanical watches. Housing the dial is a 44mm in diameter stainless steel case that is water resistant to 100 meters. The Chronoswiss Space Timer Supernova is a limited edition of 50 pieces and retails for $23,400 USD.

Chronoswiss Open Gear ReSec Blue on Black Limited Edition

With a vibrant blue guilloche dial serving as a backdrop, the elevated elements of the regulator display done in black provided a great deal of contrast to not only read the time but also to appreciate the finishing of the dial elements. The retrograde seconds at six o'clock provide an additional animated element to the dial, making this timepiece even more of a show stopper.

This model features a 44mm stainless steel case finished with a black DLC coating. The case is water resistant to 100 meters, and houses the manufacture caliber C. 301, which has a 42-hour power reserve. The Chronoswiss Open Gear ReSec Blue on Black is a limited edition of 50 pieces and retails for $13,100 USD.

Chronoswiss Space Timer Deep Space Limited Edition (ref. CH-9346.2-BLBL)

If the vibrant red elements of the Space Timer Supernova were not enough, there is the Space Timer Deep Space limited edition. The left side of the dial features a depiction of Jupiter with its volcanic moon, with a guilloche plate finished blue on the right side of the dial.

The case is CVD-coated blue, making the entire watch a bold, colorful statement. The 44mm stainless steel case is water resistant to 100 meters. The Chronoswiss Space Timer Deep Space is a limited edition of 50 pieces, and retails for $23,400 USD.
