Seiko Prospex LX SNR035 Review
The Prospex LX collection saw the light in 2019 at the Baselworld and Ken Okuyama collaborated with Seiko on the design of this collection. Okuyama has the best reputation when it comes to designs in high-profile industries such as the automobile one, and his experience in design combined with his creativity resulted in the Prospex LA series. This famous designer took Seiko’s tradition regarding sports watches and upgraded it to a new more modern and contemporary level for the satisfaction of the many Seiko fans and other watch enthusiasts.
Thus the final outcome is a simple but yet powerful collection where each of the models although very much alike one to each other has its own unique beauty. Today we are having an in-depth look in one of the three models that make the black edition of the Prospex LX line. To be more specific we are reviewing Seiko's Prospex LX with reference number SNR035. Although it shares many of the same features with all the versions from the collection still this particular reference number has its own characteristics that define it individually and separate it from the other ones in the Prospex LX line.
The SNR035 model belongs to the group of three black-coated models that are very similar to the titanium ones and have a lot in common with them as being part of the same collection. Besides the evident and first noticeable difference that it is black-coated, SNR035 differs also from the other models in the bracelet strap that is made of black crocodile leather. It features a GMT hand which is indeed helpful for all those travel addicts and everyone who travels a lot as the GMT hand shows a second-time zone. Besides this, the SNR035 is one of the watches together with SNR033 that although it is water-resistant it has the lowest level or in other words up to 100 meters compared to let’s say SNR027 which is part of the so-called Land series.
Seiko Prospex LX SNR035 Case
The Prospex LX SNR035 possesses a screw-down crown and a case back. For the dial, Seiko uses sapphire crystals. The case is solid and made of titanium with pretty large dimensions: the length of the case is 50.9 mm, the width is 44.8 mm and the thickness is 14.7mm. As there are two options regarding the movement in the Prospex LX series that is Spring Drive caliber 5R, the SNR035 uses the Spring Drive 5R66 caliber.
All the models that have integrated caliber 5R66 have the GMT function and this model has a blackout bezel with the more familiar 24-hour bezel. Thus this model also has the indicator for the power reserve and a self-winding caliber that has a quite long power reserve (72 hours or three days). The caliber contains 30 jewels. The magnetic resistance is 4800 A/m. The indicator for the power reserve is positioned somewhere between the seven and the eight o’clock. The same as the other watches from this collection, this one as well offers incredible precision and a deviation of only one second a day. The Spring Drive is much appreciated by the watch enthusiasts.
Seiko Prospex LX SNR035 Dial and Bracelet
The dial is in splendid black color combined with Luminitehands framed in silver. The indexes are also filled with Luminite. This, in a combination with the black crocodile leather strap secured with a secure look and a clasp of three-folds all in black, gives a modern edge to the classical design of Seiko and a touch of elegance on the sports watch. The strap is comfortable for wearing and lays nicely on the wrist. The strap is nicely curved in order to fit the case and as in the other models from the collection, there is a specially designed system for adjusting the length of the strap according to the needs of the wearer.
The black color of the dial is even more emphasized with the nicely polished surface that is done with the Zaratsu technique of polishing.
