Seiko LX Prospex SNR033 Review
On the last Baselworld in the previous year of 2019, Seiko introduced its collection titled Prospex LX. Although at first glance LX associates us to an abbreviation of the word “luxury” it actually stands for light in the context of the light-weight as well as the reflection of the light due to the Zaratsu brushed and polished watch surfaces.
This Prospex LX line by Seiko has an interesting background as it was designed by Ken Okuyama, popular because of the Ferrari cars’ design and Honda NSX first generation. The high-speed train was also designed by him. Thereof, this designer incorporated the modern design and his creativity into this Seiko collection.
The LX series features three models and every model has two versions. The models are designed around the nature elements: sky, sea, and land. Today we are reviewing the SNR033 model version, which is one of the several in this series, and this model belongs to the land element.
SNR033 Features
The Seiko LX Prospex SNR033 although quite large in diameter (around 44.8 mm) and 14.7 mm in thickness) it is extremely light when it comes to the weight. This makes it perfectly wearable as it offers comfort for everyday wear on your wrist. The light-weight comes from its integrated material, which is titanium. Seiko applies a super-hard coating on the bracelet as well as the case of the watch and thus it ensures that ProspexSNR033 will not get scratched easily. The watch is robust and long-lasting.
Seiko uses sapphire crystal for the LX SNR033 unlike with other models from the other series where it makes use of the Hardlex crystals, which also proved excellent with the other series. However, the use of the sapphire crystal contributed to the premium of the watch, especially in this price category.
GMT watch: What does it mean?
This model version SNR033 is known as GMT watch. What basically this means is that there is an independent hand that points to the hours. It comes handy when you travel to a country with a time zone that is not the same as home time so you can use the standard hour hand for setting the local time and the GMT will show you the time of your home. In this context, the watch is a perfect choice for frequent travelers. The independent hand is in red color and its end is in a triangle shape with luminous filling. Lumibrite is used for the luminous hands and markers which compared to Super-LumiNova is much brighter.
The Seiko Prospex SNR033 Bezel
The Prospex SNR033 features a bezel that has a scale of 24-hours. The legibility is great regardless of the light conditions and it is perfectly visible and readable during night times too. The blue and black color blend perfectly together and make an ideal combination with the blue showing the day time while the black one is indicating the night time. The bezel is made of aluminum, it is shiny and has a sapphire cover of sapphire.
Movement Caliber 5R66 Spring Drive
The Spring Drive movement is integrated into the Prospex LX line in this case through the caliber 5R66. The movement of Spring Drive is unique for Seiko and for this series of LX collection. The movement is precise and innovative and this high-end watch deserves it. What does the spring drive mean for the accuracy of the watch is quartz precision and much more updated technology compared to the classic escapement. It makes a combination between automatic winding, mechanical base, and a highly precise oscillator. The movement is well accepted and the watch enthusiasts adore it. The caliber 5R66 features an indicator on the dial that shows the power-reserve. The total power reserve is 72 hours.
The case back does not enable visibility of the movement as its material is titanium and the inside does not contain sapphire crystal. The watch SNR033 has water resistance up to 100 meters.
Seiko Prospex LX SNR033 Bracelet
The bracelet is beautifully designed and it is comfortable for wearing. The links are nicely shaped. It is made of titanium. The case is also made with the same premium quality material and great design. The angles on this Prospex SNR033 are a little wider and the surface that is nicely polished gets more light. The bracelet has a clasp with three-fold and a push-button for release and it stays secure on the wrist.

The new LX SNR033 is a great watch thanks to its high-quality degree of finish in the design, the integration of the movement Spring Drive, the sharp and magnificent dial markers. This timepiece is very much alike to the SNR031 and SNR029. This incredible watch is sold for a price of 5,500 dollars which makes it a great buy.
