Omega Seamaster Diver 300m Chronometer Black Dial Yellow Gold
In 2018, the Omega brand released a new generation of watches, the Seamaster Diver 300m. Omega produced the previous Seamaster generation for quite some time without integrating any upgrades to the series.
Omega has, however, made different versions of the Diver 300m over the past couple of years. Currently, there are about 17 collections in this series. The watches were upsized from the original 41mm to the current 42mm, with each timepiece having distinct and peculiar features from the other while maintaining its ocean spirit. One of the watches under this series is the 210.22.2.20.01.001 version.
Key Features
This specific design has a round shape. It has 42mm in diameter, 13.7 mm thick, and 50mm from lug to lug with 20 mm spacing between the lugs. It is made with scratch-resistant black ceramic bezels, 18k yellow gold crowns, contrasted by stainless steel. Additionally, the watch has 300m water resistance, a power reserve of up to 55 hours, and weighs 5.5 pounds.
Bezel
This design features a sapphire crystal unidirectional scratch-proof bezel that has shallow knurling. The bezel is 18k yellow gold and polished ceramic, with a Ceragold diving scale, which is satin-finished. It has an action sound, which is better than any other predecessor Omega watches with reduced detent.
The bezel is engraved with a black ceramic insert that is scratch-resistant, thus protecting the watch.
The Crown
The watch comes with a screw-in crown. On pulling the crown up, it allows stopping seconds and a quick set date function. One can stop-seconds to sync to a particular reference time or fast set to correct the watch.
The Dial
The Omega Seamaster 210.22.42.20.01.001 features a glossy black Zirconium Oxide Ceramic dial [ZrO2]. It is engraved with laser-cut waves, an homage to James Bond's Seamaster model. It marks a return for the earlier wave-designed Omega watches.
The hour markers are in applied polished 18k yellow gold with a Super-LumiNova fill. The minute/second hands have been subtly reshaped, given a skeletonized look with an 18k yellow gold finish and a finely printed track for the model's hands. The luminous markers are large and highly visible.
An upscale feature that adds symmetry to this watch is the date window, which has been moved to 6 o'clock. It comes in handy when you are not diving.
Case
Omega has made a unique transparent stainless steel casing for this model with polished corners. Its see-through case is an exciting feature for the diving watch and distinguishes it among many other brands. The casing is around 11mm thick.
Looking through the case, you can see a wave-patterned edge with sapphire crystals and the Master Chronometer Caliber 8800.
Helium Escape Valve
The helium escape valve crown marks the most significant difference with the Diver 300m previous versions. It is conical in shape and is positioned at the 10 o'clock position on the case's edge. It allows a submariner to open the escape valve while submerged, unlike the prior ones you had to set before diving. The valve is made with an ingenious technology to keep the watch waterproof.
The Rubber Strap
Omega incorporated a soft and very comfortable black rubber band in this watch. For the clasp, the timepiece has a great buckle that secures the timepiece watch on the wrist. The buckle features a polished bevel.
The strap has double striations, is matte finished, and is made with vulcanized rubber. The band has waves on the underside that match the coat. It is made of a standard length allowing for reliability and robustness.
Movement
This Omega Seamaster Diver model is METAS certified and surpasses Chronometer movement COSC standards. The watch passes rigorous tests in the META standards such as water resistance, winding efficiency, power reserve, shock resistance, and anti-magnetism.
The watch's movement is the Omega Master Co-Axial Caliber 8800, which beats at 25,200 VPH. It has 35 jewels and has a power reserve of up to 55 hours to balance a spring index for shock resistance.
It also features Omega Co-Axial Escapement, the Omega Silicon hairspring (Si14) for anti-magnetism. Additionally, the watch has a coaxial tri-level. Its movement is magnetic resistant to magnetic fields above 15,000 gausses. The rotor and visible bridges are designed with a unique arabesque wave design finish.
This timepiece has high revolutionary features that guarantee its quality and durability. The Seamaster Diver 300m collection has seen a massive makeover from the high technology to its high precision and resistance levels.
