From the manufacturer:
Teutonia IV BlueMoon – it’s all in the name! “BlueMoon” is the name given to the second full moon in a month, an extremely rare occurrence. It is therefore also the ideal name for the new Teutonia from Mühle-Glashütte, the second in its family to feature a moon phase display. This new unisex model is two millimetres smaller than the Teutonia IV Mondphase which has a diameter of 41 millimetres and was the first Mühle watch to contain a moon phase display.
The Teutonia IV BlueMoon may be slightly smaller, but it impressively pulls the moon into a new orbit, moving the moon phase display to the centre of its face and presenting it in a cut-out between six and nine o’clock. This new position has enabled Mühle to magnify the moon to an impressive diameter of six millimetres, shining out against the 39-millimetre case like a true super moon. When depicting the Earth’s trusty satellite on its lunar disc, Mühle- Glashütte focused on precision at its very best, meticulously reproducing craters both large and small. The moon on the lunar disc, which is manufactured especially for Mühle-Glashütte, is therefore presented in a very realistic way.
While the entire name pays tribute to the watch’s role as the second Teutonia with a moon phase display, the “Blue” part also reflects its colour scheme. The dark blue night sky provides the ideal background for the lunar disc and is adorned with a scattering of tiny stars to create a harmonious overall appearance. As if by extra-terrestrial magic, the lunar disc blends perfectly into the midnight blue background yet also manages to stand out and clearly show wearers the moon phase on its large display.
The face itself lives up to Mühle’s commitment to readability, with applied indices and a very clearly delineated minute graduation remaining visible in even the brightest of full moons. These are joined by small second and minute numerals in a shimmering light azure that allows them to be clearly read against the dark face.
When you turn the watch over to reveal the dark side of the moon, the intricately finished SW 288-1 Mühle version movement can be admired through a transparent panel in the case, which is water- resistant to 10 bars. As is typical of Mühle watches, this reliable movement comes equipped with the company’s very own rotor and its patented, particularly shockproof woodpecker neck regulation. The movement is put to the test in six different positions and regulated to achieve accuracy values between 0 and a maximum of +8 seconds per day. This precision target complies with the German chronometer standard and has the main aim of ensuring that the wearers of the Teutonia IV BlueMoon never miss a launch because of their time measuring instruments.
