Designed in collaboration with Depeche Mode, the new Spirit of Big Bang Depeche Mode pays tribute to the British band’s latest album and world tour, Memento Mori, vouching to live fully in the present and reflect on the value of time. This concept is symbolised on the watch by a skull motif embellished with an hourglass.
Fourteen years have already passed since Hublot and Depeche Mode announced their first collaboration, dedicated to raising public awareness and funds for several environmental and humanitarian causes. Since then, this partnership has been renewed with each of the British band’s subsequent tours and has raised over USD$2.3 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust and charity:water.
Ceramic Material
For Hublot, materials are an integral part of their watches’ design. They must complement their design, while protecting their mechanism and withstand the test of time. As such, the Manufacture has chosen to use high-tech ceramic for certain bezels and cases; it is an ultra-tough and almost entirely scratch-proof material (apart from the diamond) with a base of zirconium sintered at very high temperatures.
HUB1710 Movement
A perfect example of precision and reliability, the HUB1710 caliber with automatic winding beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800 alternations/hour) and provides the watch with a 50-hour power reserve. The large central hour, minute and second hands are complemented by a date at 3 o’clock. This movement also stands out with its great finesse despite the presence of an automatic winding system.
