Grand Seiko STGK004 Watch Review
Grand Seiko offers watches that recognize the classic elements of watchmaking with manually wound movements, elegant cases, and simple legibility. Grand Seiko recently unveiled a limited edition timepiece featuring a new automatic caliber, 9S27, built specifically for women’s watches.
The new Grand Seiko 9S27 automatic caliber strikes the difficult and delicate balance between exceptional productivity and lightness. With a precision rate of +8 to -3 seconds a day, its output is outstanding. An 8 beat movement offers this high standard of precision, allowing the case to suit every wrist and every watch to have an expertly sleek design.
Each movement is manufactured, assembled, and balanced by hand. The new Spron 610 alloy is used by MEMS engineering for the balance spring, and the pallet bridge and automatic shutdown wheel are each assigned to a rigorous 17-day testing procedure.
The Grand Seiko STGK004 incorporates this technology and is included in the Grand Seiko Elegance collection. The case material is zaratsu polished 18k yellow gold and 55 glittering jewels. The dial is mother of pearl. The second hand is made of hand-blued steel, and the other two hands have a central hairline stripe and are razor-edged to ensure that even the slightest ray of light is captured and clear to see. The second-hand movement, effortlessly drifting over the dial allowed by the watch’s unique scrolling mechanism, gives the wearer a conventional look while still being a revolutionary core watch.
This timepiece has a power reserve of approximately 50 hours and an accuracy rate of +8 seconds to -3 seconds per day. It includes the date window at 3 o'clock lined with a reflective metal frame. There is a shiny lubricant applied on the indexes as well as the hour and minute hand confirming the EDC aspirations, strengthened further by 100m of water resistance.
The Grand Seiko STGK004 has a crocodile leather band instead of a traditional stainless steel bracelet. The band color is white, pairing well with the gold color of the case and included white shining pearls. The leather band with a three-fold clasp buckle that stands out against the white shiny dial. With a thickness of 10.8mm and a diameter of 28.7mm, the case is very strong. The glass is made from double-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface.
