Grand Seiko SBGA231 Watch Review
The Grand Seiko diver SBGA231 is arguably one of the top dive watches! The Grand Seiko SBGA231 is the better and more modern Grand Seiko version formerly the SBGA029.This updated dive watch now bears the Grand Seiko name, vs “Seiko” on the dial. While the SBGA029 is modeled after the popular SBGA029 the upgrades that come with the newer model include much better options for professional divers to use this piece.
Grand Seiko SBGA231 has a titanium case that makes for two things; great protection and ‘lightweight’. Having a luxury watch that is a bit heavy underwater is not really a great choice and this was obviously considered during the manufacturing and design of this luxury watch.
The SBGA231 titanium material is of the highest quality and it mixes perfectly with the black color of the Grand Seiko Diver SBGA231. The titanium itself is a unique Seiko material (an alloy that has been described to be one and a half times stronger than 316L stainless steel).
The Grand Seiko SBGA231 uses spring drive. This is a patent technology that you can only get from a Grand Seiko product and it ensures the accuracy of the watch around your wrist. The spring drive technology is a unique technology that sets these watches apart from the rest – and Grand Seiko SBGA231 is one of them.
Grand Seiko Spring Drive dive always comes with a power reserve dial – and GS SBGA231 has this feature too. This is the ideal notification you need to be aware of the level of energy you have left in the mainspring. No one wants a wristwatch that dies all of a sudden and without notice.
Another feature to love about this Grand Seiko is that the spring drive system that comes with Grand Seiko SBGA231 requires less service when compared to other models. We will include another article with describes in detail the Spring Drive system.
Water-resistance is a no-brainer for a product like this and greater emphasis is even given to the GS SBGA231. It has more corrosion-resistant properties than normal stainless steel and would make for a far better option when it comes to durability.
This is not just a watch that is limited to its luxurious features, it has all the ruggedness of a typical Grand Seiko watch. The wristwatch was handmade by the brightest watchmakers in Grand Seiko, which makes it even more endearing for many professional divers. Each Grand Seiko watch built was assembled by one watchmaker, from start to finish.
The luxury wristwatch has a 3-fold clasp that comes with a secure lock and push-button release system – this means that you can expect a firm and secure lock. The release system is seamless with a touch of class and finesse. The solid and slide adjuster present in the watch is also one to love.
What can you expect of the watch itself; a clear date display system that you can easily read underwater, as well as a display for the level of power reserve.
The accuracy of 1 second per day is achieved using the incredible Spring Drive System, while a power reserve of about 72 hours means you have a top-quality sports watch on your wrist for a long time. The gorgeous second-hand sweep of this watch is a beauty to behold – simply put, it is beautiful to look at.
