A mechanical limited edition in the Evolution 9 Style captures the majesty of the Mt. Iwate mountainscape.
The beauty of the natural world is palpable at the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are made. Located in northern Japan, with Mt. Iwate in the distance, master craftsmen and women bring watches to life in a place deeply in tune with the local surroundings. The watch features a new textured dial inspired by the ridges of Mt. Iwate. The first Mt. Iwate pattern dial appeared in 2006 and has since become deeply associated with Grand Seiko mechanical watchmaking. Mt. Iwate is one of the most active volcanoes in Japan; its history can be felt in the rugged mountainscape and the lava flow at its northern base. The dial of this creation captures the timeless beauty of Mt. Iwate as seen from the sky, with the striking light-blue hue evoking the purity of the air and water that surround this landmark.
The case and bracelet are made of Ever-Brilliant Steel, a stainless-steel alloy that features greater corrosion resistance than is typically seen in the watch industry today. It is powered by the Caliber 9SA5, which offers a power reserve of 80 hours thanks to the use of the highly efficient Dual Impulse Escapement and twin barrels.
