Grand Seiko SBGX263 Review
Grand Seiko is a name that is familiar to most watch enthusiasts, and for those who don’t know them, they are a Japanese company that has been making luxury watches for the past 60 years. Grand Seiko is known for the quality they produce, and that tradition of quality is repeated with Seiko’s SBGX263.
Grand Seiko SBGX263 is a watch designed for men, although the design leans more as unisex, so women too can purchase it. Exterior
As is the custom of Grand Seiko, quality of the material used in making the casing of watches is priority to ensure durability. The case of the SBGX263 is made from stainless steel, and it is about 37mm in diameter and 10mm in thickness. The casing sports a brushed finish which is guaranteed to remaining shining like new for a long time. Attached to the casing are chain bracelet made from stainless steel which measures 205mm in perimeter. The bracelet comes with a three-fold clasp with the push-button release for easy strapping and unstrapping of the watch.
Covering the dial and the movement system of the watch is glass made from sapphire crystals. This glass is coated in its inner surface to be anti-reflective (prevent the bouncing of light ray back the eyes of the user) and also it is anti-scratch.
Together as a whole, the SBGX263 weighs 134.0 g – a good weight that doesn’t leave strain on the hand of the watch’s wearer. Finally, the back case of the SBGX263 is made from the same material as the casing. This screw case back comes with Grand Seiko’s mark of excellence – the lion emblem.
Movement
The movement system of a watch is the equivalent to what the engine of an automobile is to a car. The movement system determines what the watch is capable of, the power consumption, accuracy etc., hence, it is a very important element in watches.
The Grand Seiko SBGX263 comes with the quartz, caliber 9F62 movement system of Grand Seiko. The 9F system is unique because none of its parts was outsourced by the famous Japanese watchmaker. Its Jewels were specially designed to ensure that its accuracy is to precision.
Seiko’s caliber 9F62 movement system is designed with a special high-speed motor that enable the watch change its date 1/2000th of a second. Furthermore, to reduce bulkiness, the 9F62 movement system is considerably smaller than majority of other movement systems, but this doesn’t reduce its ability to perform as a movement system at all. Magnets can affect the movement of these wheels and levers, but the SBGX263 is designed to stay accurate even when it is used near a magnetic field.
Finally, this watch is water-resistant. Rated 10 bar, the Grand Seiko SBGX263 can be used near/in water up to the depth of 100 meters.

Display
The champagne-colored dial of the SBGX263 has a little feel of silver to it that makes it beautiful to behold. The dial has no numerals, but the silver hour indexes and black second marker are rightly positioned for accurate reading of the watch.
The hour, minute and second hands are rightly balanced for precision against the indexes, and they have a brushed finish that gives them a sparkling look. On the 12 o’clock mark is the GS logo of Grand Seiko, while the 3 o’clock mark houses the rectangular date display window.
