Grand Seiko SBGX261 Review

Exterior

With a size of the 37mm diameter by 10mm thickness, the casing is designed by master craftsmen and spots a brushed finishing.
Attached to both sides of the casing are interlocked stainless steel bracelets. The bracelet’s perimeter is 205mm and it comes with three-fold clasp with the push-button release for easy strapping and unstrapping from the wrist.
Protecting the dial in the casing is glass made from sapphire crystals. This glass is anti-scratch, and it is chemically treated in its inner surface to make it anti-reflective. So, you don’t need to worry about sun rays.
The back case of the Grand Seiko SBGX261 is also made from stainless steel and has the signature lion emblem of Grand Seiko. Furthermore, the case back is screwed to reduce the chances of water penetration into the watch. Finally, as a whole, the Grand Seiko SBGX261 weighs 134.0g. This is a perfect weight for a wristwatch because you’ll barely feel it on your wrist and this means little or no strain when you wear it.
Movement

The Grand Seiko SBGX261 comes with the quartz, caliber 9F62 movement system. This is the smallest caliber among all of the calibers in the 9F series. Although small in size, this caliber is arguably the more superior than the average quartz movement, if the construction details is to be considered.
The caliber 9F62 has a specially designed high-speed motor that is dedicated to date changing, and this helps the SBGX261 change its date within 1/2000th of a second. Using dedicated crystals and crafted gears and levers, torque is reduced so that the energy required in powering the 9F62 system is considerably reduced. This ensures that the battery used last a very long time before a change is required.
Most importantly, a key requirement of any timekeeping device is accuracy. The SBGX261’s caliber 9F62 is designed to have a staggering ±10 seconds accuracy per year. That is simply a very accurate device.

Display
Grand Seiko SBGX261 comes with a pitch-black dial that brings the memories of night time. There are hours and minutes silver-coated indexes to replace the conventional Arabic 12-hour numerals. The hour, minute and seconds hands are all made to precision so that accuracy when reading the watch isn’t reduced or doubted.
