Grand Seiko SBGR257 Watch Review
The Grand Seiko SBGR257 has a three day power reserve. It combines the latest hairspring technology with an escape wheel and pallet, which was developed through Seiko’s MEMS to achieve accuracy and stability while worn.
This watch has an upgraded caliber 9S55 mechanical movement. This model has a striking exterior, featuring a bold crown guard with lugs that complement the shine given off by the mirror finish. This watch is sure to catch your eye. The mirror finish produces a shine achieved with zaratsu polishing. If you are into watching your clock gears shift, this watch has a transparent back that allows for that. This watch is the perfect accessory to any suit.
The dial is silver with Grand Seiko artistry and a bracelet band style. It is considered a member of the 9S mechanical collection and provides you with the hours, minutes, seconds, and date. The watch is 39.4mm in diameter and 13.7mm thick and is only 46.5 mm lug-to-lug. It has a 19mm space between lugs and is 50.8mm across the wrist. It is water-resistant up to 100 meters.
The exterior is sleek, and the case is made of stainless steel. This watch has a polyhedrons style lug with a mid-case protrusion on both sides, almost as though the watch is rounder than it is. There is a short break between the rounded mid-case and the thrusting faceted lugs, and it has the Seurat Suton plate polish that Grand Seiko is famous for. The crown guards are lovely and symmetrical, almost like small triangles around the dial.
The glass is dual-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface of the glass. The clasp is a three-fold clasp with a push-button release. The three-fold bracelet has staggered alignment with large centers and polished outer facers with a rounded bevel on the flank that transitions from the hoods to the flanks of the links. The links themselves are held in place by screws, so you will not need to worry about losing pins. There are two half links for precise sizing. The swing arms internally are machines, not stamped. It has a high-grade bracelet and a high-grade clasp. There are broad channels to avoid pinching the skin or pulling hair.
Furthermore, this watch has an automatic movement with a manual winding capacity. This piece has a six-position adjustment, -3/+5 for 24 hours. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour. It also has magnetic resistance and only weighs 160 grams.
Black lacquer is present on the dial, with beautiful diamond polished elliptical style indices and rounded doping hands across the center. This individuality will give you a sense of confidence. The silver print rather than white for the numerals add to the uniqueness of this piece.
