Glashütte Original Senator Perpetual Calendar 100-02-22-05-04
The Senator line has been a pillar of the collection since its introduction in 1997. Today's models areas exquisite and elegant as their predecessors, yet clearly more contemporary, and the flagship of theline remains the Senator Perpetual Calendar.
Made by hand in the manufactory in Glashütte, the Perpetual Calendar testifies to the on-going questfor the perfect union of mechanical complications and art. At last year's fair in Basel the Saxonmanufactory presented a beautiful version of this exquisite mechanical timepiece, encased in redgold with a matt black dial. This year's fair brings the introduction of three variations on thissophisticated model: in red gold with a silver dial, or in stainless steel with either a warm silver or amatt black dial.
All Senator Perpetual Calendar displays are arranged to form a clear, harmonious balance, and areeasily read through the antireflective sapphire crystal. The day, month and compelling GlashütteOriginal Panorama Datedisplay shows either white or black numerals against the ground. On theblack dial versions, the phases of the moon are revealed by a black disk adorned with silver stars anda radiant silver moon, while the timekeepers outfitted with a warm silver dial show a silver moon on ablue disk.
A discreet, unambiguous leap year display presents a red dot to indicate a leap year, followed byyellow, black and white dots for successive years. The heart of the Senator Perpetual Calendar, easily visible through the sapphire glass mounted in the case back, is the Glashütte Original Caliber100-02, a superb 28,800 vph automatic movement featuring a screw balance with 18 weighted goldenscrews and a power reserve of more than 55 hours (+/- 10%).
Its reset mechanism allows easy synchronization of the second hand with a time standard. Unlikeother reset mechanisms, the second hand is connected neither to the winding stem nor the crown. As a result, when the crown is pulled out, the balance remains in oscillation and the movementcontinues to run, significantly reducing material stress. Pressing a separate button on the side of thecase at 8 o'clock activates the reset mechanism. The rotor winds in both directions, providingconstant power to the movement.
Exquisitely finished components enhance the artistry of the movement's design: the signatureGlashütte three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing, skeletonized rotor with 21-ct gold oscillationweight, twin spring barrels and swan-neck fine adjustment. Black Louisiana alligator or black rubberbracelets, both with foldover clasps in either red gold or stainless steel, complement the SenatorPerpetual Calendar's elegant and compelling aesthetics.
