Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date Blue Dial
Glashutte Original represents the German highest quality luxury timepieces by blending the classic styles with the latest designs. For over 100 years, Glashutte Original has continued the tradition started by Ferdinand Lange in the mid 19th century.
In early May 2019, the brand made a revival of the 1969 RP TS 200, and this time, channeled the best of the past with the finest present features in their new Sea Q Panorama Date. Unlike other Glashütte Original models, the SeaQ deviated from the typical features associated with the brand and adopted the best past features.
What’s Different
The Glashutte Original SeaQ, for the first time in the brand’s models, features the introduction of the silicon hairspring in the caliber.
Key Features
The narrow and unique case back has a 43.2 mm diameter, 15.9 mm thickness, and 51.3 lug-to-lug distance. The distance between the lugs is 21 mm. This timepiece features an extraordinary blue dial and bezel. The Super LumiNova feature has been applied on the hands, Arabic numerals, and indexes for clear visibility at night.
The Case
Almost completely brushed, this stainless steel case finishing is all-around and clean. The lines from edge to edge are sharply cut and have a nice curvature to settle perfectly on your wrist. This shape will exquisitely match the shape of your wrist without overwhelming it.
The Crown
The SeaQ crown features a large deep cutting pattern for easy gripping when you turn it around. It also has discrete shear guards that offer protection without dominating the profile of the timepiece.
The screw-down crown can be used as a quick set system for the date and hacking stop seconds. In its initial position, it offers water resistance properties for any diving activity up to 300 meters.
The Bezel
Glashütte Original has used a blue ceramic bezel for the SeaQ model to offer scratch resistance. The bezel clicks on rotation (unidirectional) and has a luminous triangular index that can easily be aligned with the vintage-inspired broad minute hand. Another feature that sets this timepiece apart is that its bezel has a 0-60 minute timer bezel, unlike many timepieces that have up to 30.
The Dial
The blue dial is well designed to feature a vintage font on the Arabic numerals. It has the Glashütte Original Logo with a double-digit date window between 4 and 5 o’clock placed on two separate disks. The blue sunburst dial is equipped with luminous markers and hands that can clearly be read in the dark.
The Bracelet
The bracelet is made of a tactical style textile of high grade with substantial material and layering. It has a pin buckle that has been redesigned for a perfect fit.
You also have an option for a four twin trigger folding buckle to allow you to resize the watch without removing it. This offers more security and prevents it from dropping, even while diving.
Case Back And Caliber
This exquisite timepiece features a display sapphire crystal case back with the 36-13 caliber under it. The movement is finished with Glashutte stripes and a 21-carat gold radar.
The caliber has seen the introduction of a silicon hairspring in a Glashütte Original product for the first time. It also features 100 hours of power reserve and can be adjusted in six different positions, one more than the standard chronograph.
The timepiece has 28,800 vibrations per hour, 39 jewels, and polished black screws.
Conclusion
The Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date is an impressive timepiece with excellently blended and crafted features of the past and the present. With the clear improvements from the revived 1969 RP TS 200 version, the SeaQ was the best way for Glashutte to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2019.
