The new Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar is presented in a warmly gleaming red gold case measuring 42 mm in diameter and reflects with its timeless elegance the pure essence of Glashütte Original. Perfectly polished and satin-finished surfaces on the case reflect the light, while the slim bezel offers an optimal view of the dial. A brown Louisiana alligator nubuck leather strap echoes the warm tone of the case and ensures a secure fit on the wrist.
The perpetual calendar is considered one of the most sought-after complications in the art of watchmaking. The calendar function not only takes into account different month lengths, but also leap years. This sophisticated mechanical timepiece implements this elaborate complication in a particularly contemporary and user-friendly way. Discrete correctors on the case allow an uncomplicated adjustment of the day of the week, month and moon phase, while the sum corrector can be used to switch the day, date and month simultaneously.
The slim bezel offers a generous view of the galvanic silver dial with a fine graining. Matching the case, the hour and minute hands are made of fine red gold, just like the hand-applied Roman numerals. Display windows instead of hands ensure optimal readability and a clear design. The Panorama Date from Glashütte Original is also easy to read and rich in contrast: Arabic numerals in bold black stand out clearly against the ivory-coloured date discs.
The new perpetual calendar is powered by the manufactory calibre 36-12, which is extensively finished. The decorations on the movement are particularly visible thanks to the skeletonised rotor, which is adorned with a double-G logo that is also skeletonised. All Senator Excellence models are put through their paces in our manufactory for 24 days – under conditions that go even beyond the German chronometer test. A special engraving in the form of a “Q” on the case back seals the quality of each individual watch.
