The MB Savanna is the latest highly engineered Bremont watch created in association with Martin-Baker. For more than 70 years, the British engineering company has been developing pilot safety systems, and today it provides more than 70 per cent of the world’s air forces with ejector seats. Its systems have saved more than 7,000 lives.
The symbiotic relationship between the two companies began when Martin-Baker approached Bremont in 2007/08 and asked us to create the ultimate aviation watch. But they didn’t simply want us to stamp their logo on the dial. They wanted a watch that could withstand the extreme forces pilots endure when they activate an ejector seat. That meant it had to pass a battery of tests, including those for Live Ejection Testing, MFOS Crashworthy Testing, Extreme Temperature Endurance, Vibration Testing, Altitude Testing and Aircraft Carrier Deck Testing.
The MB watches have all passed these tests and come with the Martin-Baker seal of approval, symbolised by the black and yellow ejector seat loop that serves as the central seconds hand counterbalance.
This Savanna-coloured, desert-inspired model comes with a 43mm Grade 5 Titanium case with a protective, tactical coating, and a sand-coloured metal dial and rubber bracelet. It has twin knurled crowns for setting the time and the inner rotating bezel, a movement mount that protects the movement from extreme shocks, and is powered by the modified calibre BE-36AE automatic chronometer.
